FUCK THE LAW, I HAVE MONEY! Also, as a bartender (well I have the certification), I would deny you anyway, and probably report you for negligence or something.
Luckily in some places you have the law on your hand, there they jail women if they get a miscarriage or anything else that could possibly harm the foetus if it is believed that the women could have done anything to prevent this
That is terrifying. What If I went skiing and fell and miscarried? or what if I was speeding slightly, got into an accident and miscarried? What if I were walking home late at night alone, and was attacked, and this caused a miscarriage? Would those all be manslaughter? It’s a dangerous law and one I would never support.
(that was sarcasm in case you missed it)
I agree it is reprehensible, there is so much wrong with such thinking i can’t even begin to describe the insanity behind it.
oh good, sorry, sarcasm is hard to read sometimes
Oops, looking back at your recent political situation i see that it can be hard to see the difference between actual insanity and pretend insanity nowadays
FES is not going to happen on one drink. We are not sure how many it takes, or over what period of time, so we err on the side of caution.
Here in France, 1/2 glass of red wine is recommended for pregnant women after the 3rd month.
Uh this is not feminism
No, but this is still done in the name of feminism.
But that doesn’t have anything to do with feminism. If I kill someone and falsely say I did it because you wanted me to, anyone who thinks it’s a stain on your reputation is sorely mistaken.
But that’s the difference between a person and an ideology. Generally, you can prove whether or not an individual was involved with an action, where as an ideology can be interpreted and practiced in different ways. See Christianity.
Ah, but ideologies are much easier to define. Feminism is the belief that women deserve equal rights. If you think that’s not what the word means, please show me a reputable dictionary that says otherwise.
Here’s a link to help you start looking:
Can’t tell if Poe, but any comments on the definition of Nazism?
Nazism is the ideology and practice of the Nazi party, which was disbanded. In general it meant a policy of intolerance of certain races, religions and ways of life; strong nationalism, aggressive national expansion and heavy control by the government of the economy, business and individuals.
The problem is that some fringe sub-groups decided to co-opt the name and use it for their own purposes. If they are actually Nazis, then it changes the definition if their ideology or practice differs from those of the original party. If they aren’t true Nazis, then the meaning doesn’t change. Most of the time they’re referred to as neo-Nazis, which preserves the original definition of Nazism.
Why doesn’t the word “Nazism” have two “i”s since the I is pronounced twice?
Fair enough. You’re being consistent which was whatnot were getting at.
Seems a tad pedantic though and most would fall into “not real x” category by being the strict with definitions. Clear definitions are nice though.
No they’re not, again just look at the many many types of religions and their many many different sects. Just because there is a slated definition of feminism doesn’t mean that everyone that declares themselves feminists adheres to that definition. Men’s Rights is a good example as well. Though their slated goal is to fight to protect the rights of men and boys, most of its members just bitch about feminists.
Ok, first, we’re not talking about religion, we’re talking about feminism.
Second, you’re missing the point.
If someone calls themself a feminist but doesn’t act like a feminist, that doesn’t change the meaning of the word. So if you see people saying “I’m a feminist and I think that women should have superior rights over men” the conclusion is not that all or some or even one feminist thinks women should have equal rights over men. The conclusion is that some female supremacists call themselves feminists. To take that behavior and say “some feminists think women should have superior rights” what you’re doing is buying into the female supremacist misuse of the word.
Someone is not a feminist simply by declaring themself one.
So it doesn’t matter what’s done in the name of feminism. It doesn’t change what feminism is. It just means that the people calling themselves feminists who obviously aren’t feminists are liars. And the people why buy into their lies and start thinking feminists are thus-and-such opposed to the actual meaning of the word? Gullible.
I’m using religion as an example. It’s more stringently defined and has structures in place to say who does and doesn’t belong. Despite that there are many many ways to interpret every religion.
Feminism is the same way in many regards. It isn’t just a definition in the dictionary, there are books enough to fill a library on feminist theory. Many of which have very different notions on what counts as equal rights.
Ok, I partially agree with that. The meanings of words are defined in dictionaries, but the meanings of words are created by people who use the word. So if most people use a word contrary to what the dictionary says, then the dictionary is wrong. That’s the problem.
It makes me livid when people misuse a word in order to defame people. By using “feminist” to mean anything that doesn’t promote equal rights for women, particularly using it to mean people who are anti-feminist such as misandrists (man-haters) and female supremacists, you’re shitting not only on everyone who believes in equal rights for women, but on our language. Because if you and others misuse the word so much that the meaning changes, then what the fuck are we supposed to call someone who believes in equal rights for women? “Egalitarian” fits but it lacks specificity.
The misandrists/female supremacists started this by calling themselves feminists and trying to infiltrate feminist groups. But the worst part? The people who hate misandry and female supremacism took that misuse and fucking RAN with it. They point to every lunatic female supremacist and misandrist and say “FEMINIST!!” Like in Invasion of the Body Snatchers.
They are helping very the assholes they hate! Helping them to corrupt the language. Now it’s starting to catch on in the general population and sooner or later the dictionaries will have to change their definitions to keep up with popular meaning. So we’ll have lost a perfectly good word due to human stupidity.
Something very similar happened with political correctness, which started out (at least where I lived at the time) simply meaning to treat others with the same respect with which you’d like to be treated. Now it means those who are rabidly verbally aggressive towards anyone who they think (by their extremely loose standards) is saying something that could possible offend someone. Partly it’s a problem with the phrasing I think, the term “political correctness” is inherently arrogant and presumptuous.
True which is unfortunate and gives real feminists a bad name
I need to get going now, but wasn’t it determined that it’s actually okay for pregnant women to have a little alcohol?
This isnt a new thing, I was told this when I worked in a nightclub back in 2001. It’s apparently discrimination….I just tried to avoid the pregnant ones (mainly just one)
no decent mother is going to go drinking when pregnant anyway youre still allowed to judge the fuck out of them
