A more articulate paraphrase of the philosophy I have always preferred.
If I have not misread your statement, if this phrasing is not to your liking then please do give us your preferred phrasing.
How I read it was that this was a paraphrase of his own thoughts, and done better than he could explain. Of course I could be wrong.
What if we’re all wrong? What if… we’re all made up of cheese? And the moon is the living person?
Oh my god. It makes sooo much sense. I mean some people ARE really smelly.
Yes, and that would explain why we fart so much.
i just farted an it is soooo bad that it stings my eyes(omfg)
You are ripe for eating, then.
Sound advice. The thing is, monotheism with a jealous god has survived so long precisely because it tells mankind we have to give a massive shit about what the gods think of us, and not just any god, but a very specific God. And if what that God wants of us is to make other people believe in Him, that religion spreads like a virus. Richard Dawkins coined the word ‘meme’ to describe this process.
Not strictly relevant, sorry. I just thought it was interesting that we don’t really take Jupiter and Mars seriously (as gods I mean, as planets they’re pretty much undeniable) but a lot of us do take the Christian God seriously. That’s why I’m all for the sort of philosophy Marcus is espousing. Hopefully one day we won’t take any gods seriously at all.
OMG.. A white guy named Marcus..
that is an image of emperor Caracalla, not Marcus Aurelius. Caracalla was a very different person from Marcus Aurelius.
