But it’s a one direction fan.
hmmm… that sentence sounds funny.. think it’s a one
Yeah its ‘a’ not ‘an’… it depends on the sound of the vowel, not the vowel itself – One is pronounced with a ‘w’ sound, so it doesn’t get the ‘an’… just like we say a university since its said with a ‘y’ sound.
That always bugs the sh!t out of me when people put ‘an’ in front of a ‘w’ word, regardless if it’s a hard sound or not. One of my pet peeves, I guess.
My favorite is “an historical”. I’m quite sure that H is pronounced!
Oh yes… the ‘H’ words are even worse!!! I’ve stopped reading books and magazines when they get those wrong…
Thank you guys for this. It confused me because of “an hour”. I always thought vowel needs an ‘an’ in front no matter what but then why is it “an hour”? Although, saying it in my head it can go either way with ‘an’ or ‘a’.
I was taught to say “hour” the exact same way I say “our” (which is completely different from “are”).
The H is silent in “hour” but pronounced in “history,” hence an hour and a history.
I’m the same way. I’ve always kept the h silent in hour. Whoever does that with history is just an idiot.
Thanks. I fixed it.
