I’ve always wondered why women wear the skirts (in general) and the men wear the pants. Also, why are male bikes made with the bar higher? Wouldn’t you NOT want to hit your dangly bits on that thing?

If you’d learn to ride your bike properly then the high bar will never be a real problem, but if you’re wearing skirts then the high bar is a serious problem a) for stepping on the bike and b) for riding it with any semblance of decency though that latter is hilarious if you see the women sometimes here in their miniskirts on the bike, with one hand trying to steer and the other trying to keep the skirt down so there is not to much to see upskirt wise

Women in Toronto DGAF about who sees up their miniskirt. It’s actually pretty difficult to catch a glimpse of underpants with tight clothing, as you have to be in the perfect position to look, and by that time, the bike has either turned or she’s run you over.

True enough but you have to imagine there’s not just one or two biking women over here, there’s thousands, but you’re correct that there’s not much to see should someone even try

You can wear skirts in Toronto? And not freeze to death? Woman from Toronto are tough!!! If it’s something like 10°C here I have 2 pants, 3 socks and a blanket on top of my at least 3 coats hehe xD

My girlfriend only stopped wearing dresses when it was 40F outside.

I also think the low bar is to help “ladies behave like ladies”, even with pants, so that they don’t need to, you know, lift their leg and pass it over the bar or seat to sit. What I don’t understand is why whe still have this distinction now, when we can tell someone who wants us to “sit like a lady” to f#@$ off… But being a 36 year-old woman with the flexibility of a 95 one, I prefer those bikes, so that I don’t look like I’m trying to ride a 2m tall horse when I’m trying to get on a bicycle… Though it is funny, I have to admit it

The women’s bike as they are called here are also getting more and more in vogue for men, there’s no longer the stigma that men on women bikes are somehow less manly but this was once the case

Nope. The Ancient Greeks and Romans didn’t wear pants because they found them ridiculous and considered them to be barbarous garments. The Ancient Greeks never wore pants and equated the wearing of pants with savagery. Pants were originally associated with the Persians, Scythians, Sarmatians, Eastern and Central Asian peoples. The Greeks used the term anaxyrides for pants and thought that wearing pants was a sign of barbarism and they even found them ridiculous.Check the link:

I don’t like pants. I wish I could just go Greek but don’t want to get arrested.

You should go to Scotland. Or maybe…….don’t…’s better for you not to go there.
